This article introduces our founders, Hamish Cassels and Matt Witt, we find out why they started Natural Home Stores, what are their favourite products and how they work closely with their brands to get the most from their products.
Who are you?
We are Hamish Cassels and Matt Witt. We are friends and business partners who live in Glastonbury UK.
What to you do?
We combined our knowledge of business and logistics (Hamish), with marketing and ecommerce(Matt) to create Natural Home Stores. We work with artisan brands and makers to bring their products to market on Amazon and through our website.
Why do you do it?
M: We have a mutual drive to create a business that connects with other entrepreneurs, we like to collaborate and support upcoming brands as they expand into online marketplaces. We focus on local artisan sellers because we take pride in selecting products that we can be proud to promote.
H: Our aim is to work with people who put a lot of love into the products they make, and to get these products out to a wider audience, so they can start to compete with bigger brands. We understand there is a growing calling for these sorts of products to be more readily available to a mass market.
How do you do it?
M: We provide our brands with a service that means they don’t have to deal with the intricacies of running their own Amazon account. We work closely with photographers to get the highest quality image presentation, copywriters to create intriguing listings that highlight product USPs. We work with social media marketers to tap into audiences on the major social networks. This website offers a further online location from which to sell.
H: We also collaborate with colleagues in France and Germany as we expand into Amazon Europe. We are constantly on the lookout for new brands to com
e on board. We work closely with them, learning about their business and how we can integrate our marketing ideas with theirs to get the most out of their products.
As we learn more about the products, how and why they sell, we then report back to our brands and help them to develop these ideas further. For example, jam and chutney selection packs and home fragrance gift sets will be very popular this Christmas, so we have approached Bumblee’s Preserves and Clovelly Soap Co to create a range of selection packs that we can get to market in good time for the festive period.
It’s these kind of collaborative relationships we are most keen to foster.
What can you tell us about your products?
M: We take great pride in our product selection and brand roster. We currently stock products from 10 brands. Our products range from soaps and candles blended with essential oils to jams, marmalades and chutneys with fruits foraged from the wild.
Our products are handmade, natural, many of our food items are suitable for vegans and are gluten free. We take time to understand what is in our products and only work with brands who take the same care to ensure the ethical and sourcing of their produce and materials.
